The moon exactly as it stood on your date — its phase drawn in natural grey on a deep, single-colour sky — with a name above and your words beneath.
The unlit side of the moon is left open, so the sky shows through it and a crescent reads as a crescent rather than as a full disc with most of it missing. That is what lets the moon sit on a dark ground without a hard edge, whatever the night was — a birth, a wedding, a first night somewhere new.
